English: This medical case was designed by a General Practitioner in Penang. It includes compartments for pills (with plastic flap added by Dr Chan), injections, syringes, stethoscope, letterheads and envelops etc. He would carry letterheads so that he could write referral letters to specialists. A dedicated doctor who always helped out low-income patients, he continued doing house calls until he retired.
According to clinic assistants Doreen Tan and Susan Leong, house calls were usually charged around $80, with the most being $200 when the doctor had to drive a bit further. The price also depended on the medicine prescribed.
